for everyone commenting about the fat- i was eating 3-5x the daily recommended amount of fat every day. i was loading up on avocados, nuts, bacon, chicken thighs, and TONS of sunflower seed butter, everything cooked in butter, everything topped with olive oil. TRUST me. i was eating MORE FAT THAN I EVER WANNA EAT AGAIN IN MY LIFE, that was not the issue.

the first week of keto sucks, but it takes about 4 weeks for you body to get used to a high fat low carb diet & for your digestion to change, it takes more than a week to even get into ketosis. So you absolutely cannot judge this diet after doing it poorly for a week.

Ok, a ton of people are bashing Gabbie, but there are a couple points I'd like to highlight:
• She isn't a nutritionist, and there is a ton of misleading stuff on the internet
• She's had an eating disorder before, and feeling those symptoms again was probably extremely alarming. If I were her, I would've done the exact same thing and quit the diet
• I agree that this video is not the best representation of the keto diet, but please, don't be so harsh and try to consider what it was like for her, being new and all to this style of eating
• Also, Gabbie put in a good effort, considering her sweet tooth is almost as large as mine

This video should be titled "How NOT to do Keto." She clearly did not do more than 5 minutes of research or due diligence. 1. Use https://www.ruled.me/keto-calculator/ to calculate your macros. 2. Use an app like Cronometer or MyFitnessPal to track your macros. Generally you are going to be keeping your net carbs less than 20g per day, aiming for a protein target, and eating enough fat to feel satiated. You can even fit some fruits like blueberries in with portion control! 3. You are going to lose a lot of water weight which results in the "keto flu." It's mostly dehydration. You need to supplement electrolytes (magnesium, potassium, sodium) and you will avoid most of the problems with fatigue, headaches, etc. It's also normal for your exercise performance to suffer initially, but once your body becomes fat adapted in a few weeks things will go back to normal, your cravings will go away, and you will start truly experiencing the benefits. This is a lifestyle, not a trendy 1 week crash diet, and it is a healthy way of life for many if you do it the right way.

You're allowed to eat berries on the keto diet as long as you don't overdo it. You're allowed to put cream (or even butter—which I find odd, but to each their own) in your coffee as long as you don't overdo it. You're not supposed to feel great the first couple weeks because sugar is addictive and carbs are an easy source of energy for your body to process. Maybe this diet isn't meant for you and that's totally fine, but this video is a little misleading. I love your videos, 99% of the time I totally agree with you, just maybe be a little more careful about what you're doing when you make a video like this next time? Idk do what you want I'm not your mom lmao that's just how I feel about it.

You clearly did the diet wrong. You were detoxing, that’s why you felt like shit. After a week you feel great. One week of the diet isn’t enough to see the true results of it. You’ve put yourself through hell for nothing. The true results come after you detox. Had you done research and prepared yourself, you likely would not have felt that way at all. Almonds are Keto not cashews and you actually can have fruit, you can have berries. So guess what? You could have eaten those blueberries. Also, there was no mention of water, how much did you drink? I’m assuming you drink plenty of water, especially since you have a diet and exercise regimen. With Keto you have to drink more water, especially the first week. It’s to flush out all the toxins. Drinking more water would have helped with that feeling of fatigue and the nasty feeling of fat floating around. You were probably were losing a shit ton of electrolytes on top of that. I do Keto everyday and it’s great, I’ve never felt better in my life. Even better than when I eat Carbs. You know why? Because I do it right and because diets are not one size fits all. Obviously you need the carbs. But, don’t go bashing other people’s lifestyle choices. When done right, this diet is super healthy and clean. It’s easy to feel like shit when you’re eating fatty proteins like bacon everyday. Once and a while is fine but, it’s not a ticket to eat crap fat everyday. This video is so misleading. You should have done research..smh.

Gabbie your talents are numerous but are limited especially when speaking on the KETO lifestyle. Doing your due diligence to researching a true KETO food list and why those foods are important. If done properly you will not have those cravings. I feel bad for you having all these problems. I do not recommend anyone starting the Keto plan without doing their research first.

I did Keto for 5 months and lost 60 pounds. I do CrossFit workouts 3 days a week and even though I don’t do Keto anymore, it’s like it hit a reset button In my body. I’m back to my pre-baby weight and can eat what I want in moderation. It wasn’t as awful as Gabbi is making it out to be.. I have a toddler and my house is full of fun snacks that I said no to for MONTHS. It’s worth it.

Even though you addressed the fact that some people can do this to cure disease etc. I don’t think you realize how important this diet is to so many people. My 5 year old cousin has Glut 1 deficiency and will have seizures if he strays from this diet. Doctors didn’t know what was wrong with him for the longest time and now he has severe learning deficiencies because of the way he was fed before being put on this diet. So I don’t think people should listen to your unsolicited advice when it comes to a diet that you had no business scrutinizing. This diet has many more benefits than just losing weight. Do your research next time.

It’s wild how much you’re being attacked on this Gabbie. I graduated from college a few years ago with a degree in health promotion & exercise science. It was the general consensus that ketosis is bad, ketosis is bad, don’t put your body through that. The next year the whole “keto” diet gets popular. Similar to south beach. People have had good results from it and all of a sudden supporting scientific evidence comes through. As someone who loves the research side of science, it should be known that you can find data for most any conclusion. Topics in health specifically go back and forth like crazy and there will always be science to support or deny any claim. Just listen to your body and tell everyone who shoves some new evidence in your face to go F themselves. Their anecdotal evidence isn’t yours. And for all we know, in 5 years we could find it’s the most detrimental thing you can do

I found it very funny when she said "I want real chicken." Do you think humans used to kill chickens and discard everything except the breast? This video was sadly misinformed on many things. For instance many of the things she said she was dying for are keto friendly so she could have actually eaten them. Keto is typically under 20 carbs per day, but you subtract fiber from that. It should be a high vegetable diet. If chicken thighs gross you out so badly you can do vegetarian or even vegan keto. I dislike the lack of research and then telling 6 million people that this is bad to do based on not understanding what keto actually is or is supposed to be.

There is always going to be something found with every diet that will eventually be claimed to be unhealthy for you. I have tried different diets that cut out sugars or carbs also. You have to have patience and a little will power to get through it instead of just giving up completely. Now I dont follow any particular diet. I just cut way back on sugar and cut down on breads and processed foods and eat healthy whenever possible. What helped me most was using a calorie tracking app. This made me more aware of what I eat and helped me with portion control. My wife and I both started calorie counting together. We have a splurge day every Sunday to eat any particular food that we might miss, like fried chicken or desert, but we still keep the calories within reason for that day. We are not trying to lose weight as fast as possible, just lose it steadily over time and become healthier. After six weeks of doing this my wife has lost 17 lbs and I have lost 23. We also started working out three times a week to try and put on some fat burning muscle. Going by the apps weight loss goal feature I should reach my target weight this April.

In the beginning it’s hard and you want sugar and you might well sick bc your body is so used to sugar
But there are a lot more things you could of ate like peanut butter, sweet potatoes, veggies, and you can make a keto coffee that taste like a normal coffee, green juice, hot wings, and you can make cakes and other desserts that are keto free and a lot more and your stomach will hurt bc your flushing out .
So keto is actually really good diet to do and it’s worth it
and my dad had type 3 diabetes and was on his way to heaven but he did keto and know he has no diabetes and lost 200 pounds. So give it a try

Shes a moron. You can manage the keto flu very easily when you're prepared. The first week has the most potential for being tough on your mind and body. After that I experience a very clear mind as well as an abundance of energy. Proper research would have let her know she would have needed to at least 2 weeks to get a feel for this way of eating.
She doesn't put up all the food she ate during the week, how much water she was drinking, or anything would actually validate her "trying" keto. Half way through she remembers shes had health problems when doing a low card diet in the past.

it’s unbelievable how much hate is here. gabbie told us in the very beginning that she didn’t want to research to much for the fact that she didn’t want to make her head believe that something that wasn’t true. she didn’t want the information to play tricks on here. also , about her acting out.
1. she’s a youtuber. she’s a dramatic, very loud person (nothing bad intended from that) is what her job is
2. this was her feelings. this is how she’s feeling. she made this video to show us. she’s showing everyday people , who probably eat a lot of carbs or junk food (not saying everyone does) how she felt.
3. she still has dedication. even though she tapped out, she still tried.
all in all , gabbie tried. gabbie did her best for something she didn’t have to.

This is an ignorant and irresponsible video. You were limiting your diet way too much. And yes... there are keto friendly fruit and sweets and desserts.
1)I'm really disappointed my first video ever watched of you will be my last.
2) I'm disappointed that you didn't properly research and understand what you were getting into. "Keto flu" is a stupid term for ketosis.
3) a high carb diet leads your body to burning carbs and storing fats. Keto trains your body to burn fats and you can later add in more carbs.
4) " go to the gym and eat healthy, this is not sustainable"... I spent 4 hours a day (1.5 before and 2.5 after) 7 days a week at the gym and ate nothing but health foods (which included carbs) and in the span of 8 months I lost 1 dress size and 5 lbs. I have pcos.

It’s hilarious to me that so many people are offended by your take on their favorite diet. I tried keto for about a month and I got the same feelings you did. For some people, some diets are just incompatible with their bodies. Yet, all these armchair dietitians are coming in and slamming your video. If you see this comment, I commend your experiment.
